J. A. Milligan Dead
J. A. Milligan, 84 yrs old, died at 4:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Crank in the west part
of town. Mr. Milligan was a Civil War veteran. He had been in poor health
a long while and his death was not unexpected.
Funeral service was announced for this Thursday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at
the residence. Burial to be at I. O. O. F.
cemetery.

Joseph A. Milligan Funeral
Funeral service for Joseph A. Milligan was held
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Crank in the west part of town,
last Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The funeral sermon was by Rev. C.
F. Tippin. Burial was at I. O. O. F. cemetery.
OBITUARY
Joseph Andrew Milligan was born in Linville,
Crawford County, Pennsylvania, August 30, 1841, living there until 14 years
of age, when he went with his parents to Indiana.
He was married to Theresa Ann Howard of Iowa in
the year of 1861, to this union were born six children, four preceding him
in death. Those surviving are: Joseph M. of Rinehart, Mo., Walter C. of
California.
He volunteered and enlisted in the 23rd Iowa
Infantry in the year of 1860. In 1863 he was discharged from the army on
account of disability.
His first wife having died in 1876, in the year
of 1880 he was married to Anna Sherron, to the union was born three
children, one dying in infancy, leaving, Thomas Otto of Lang, Calif., and
Mrs. Robert Crank of Liberal, Mo., with whom he made his home. He departed
this life at her home at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 29 days.
Only two of the children were able to be present,
those being, Mrs. Robert Crank and Joseph M. Besides his children, he
leaves a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild to mourn his
departure.
